DONTs
Don’t be the first one to mention any amount. The problem here can be any of these two scenarios. If you mention a low amount for your salary because you are desperate for the job, you are selling yourself short. And if you give too high a number, you may blow off your chances of getting further into the hiring process. If you really have to give an amount for your expected salary, give a range.
Don’t make wrong comparisons. Some people think that just because you have the same job title as another person, it means you must have the same salary. For example, if you are in a small organization, you cannot compare your salary with a person working in a multinational organization.
